Abigail Heche is an exception.
The Michigan-based jewelry designer began with a vision of a single necklace. Since it required a minimum 150-pound order, she took a leap of faith.
Her collection of chunky, elegant, one-of-a-kind linked necklaces made of polished horn and tagua nut (a.k.a. vegetable ivory) sold out almost immediately. Five months later her second order is on its way.
Head to Roslyn for a selection of Heche’s neutral-tone pieces (black, ivory, amber, brown) or road trip to her shop for more colorful creations (sapphires mixed with brass chain and horn, turquoise and ruby-hued spinel).
She even leaves links open so you can personalize a piece with charms or rings you have on hand.
