You once dated a douche bag to get closer to his flannel collection. (Priorities, people.)
That relationship is history, but boyfriend shirts abound at Bucktown’s newest shop, Vintage Smith.
Owner Matt Smith honed his taste working at RL. Over years spent shopping fleas around the country, he culled his collection of classic, rugged Americana for guys and girls.
Amid walls studded with local artist Jake Turner’s wood signs, shop racks of Levi’s and Wrangler denim jackets for toddlers on up, well-worn tees (think Springsteen, the Bulls), Woolrich cardigans, flannels in every colorway, vintage Frye boots, afghans, plaid ponchos, coveralls, and military jackets.
Beautiful, worn utilitarian satchels (both brand name and not), flags, trunks, and belts of all styles are also available.
Smith signed a short-term lease, so get there quick.
Unfortunately, this love affair also has an expiration date.
