Dear Alanis,
When you write your next hit (“It’s Still Pretty Ironic”), can you mention the fact that most Chicago farmers markets don’t serve any healthy, veggie-friendly prepared food?
Good luck with that,
DailyCandy
Logan Square Farmers Market is now an exception to the rule. Starting this season, it’s home to Two Birds Market & Cafe, a veggie haven helmed by young chefs Briana Nichols, Kirsten Rokke, and Maja McGuire.
After picking up fresh produce at Green City Market, the trio plans their weekly menu. This weekend: marinated kale and zucchini, cannellini beans, and purple carrots; lentils, roasted eggplant, green beans, and sun gold tomatoes; cooling watermelon-mint agua fresca.
Stock up on apricot-black pepper-pistachio bars, and buttery peach-lavender and savory bacon-cheddar (not everything is vegetarian) scones for the road.
That’s good advice you can actually take.
