Here's the Plan

pinkberry boston!

We’re seeing pink.

SAVOR
Pinkberry
What:
The first New England outpost of the obsession-inducing fro yo chain touches down in Hingham, with a second shop slated to open on Newbury Street this fall.
Why: A nonfat, tangy treat = the perfect segue from August debauchery to September detox.
When: Sun.-Thurs., 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; Fri. & Sat., 10 a.m.-11 p.m.
Where: Derby Street Shoppes, 94 Derby St. (781-740-4788).

SEE
Avedon Fashion 1944-2000
What:
With the opening crowds dispersed, take your time investigating the vibrant, narrative-filled images from the groundbreaking Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue shutterbug.
Why: Avedon’s use of fashion foils (elephants, acrobats, Afghan hounds) is beyond compare.
When: Thru Jan. 17. Gallery hours, Mon., Tues., Sat. & Sun., 10 a.m.-4:45 p.m.; Wed.-Fri., 10 a.m.-9:45 p.m.
Where: Museum of Fine Arts, Avenue of the Arts, 465 Huntington Ave. (617-267-9300).

GIVE
Cradles to Crayon’s Ready for School Campaign
What:
Local charity distributes backpacks full of learning supplies to thousands of low-income and homeless children (ages 5-12) across the state.
Why: A mere $15 equips a child with an age-appropriate duffel; in-kind clothing and shoe donations outfit her for the big day back.
When: Thru Sept. 30.
Where: Donate online at cradlestocrayons.org; find clothing drop-off locations here

THINK
Beyond
Restaurant Week
What:
Sidestep the second-week crowds and rediscover nonparticipating gems like Salts, Clio, and Craigie on Main (all of which are making locavore magic with late-summer harvests).
Why: It’s a chance to try 51 Lincoln’s raw August menu and one of your better shots at getting into Coppa.
When: The mob mentality gets to you.
Where: Take joy in seeking them out yourself (we’re just here to give you a nudge).

SHOP
Clutch
What:
The upscale consignment boutique stocks accessories like pristine bags, scarves, jewelry, and hats from the creme de la creme (Chanel, Hermès, Gucci) at up to 80 percent off retail.
Why: Comp your visit by simultaneously clearing your closet of unused fineries; consignors receive 60 percent of the sale price.
When: Daily, noon-6 p.m.
Where: 101 Endicott St., North End (617-248-3807). Call to arrange a consign appt.

Swirl Steals
What: Deep, deep discounts on ready-to-wear from some of our best sales.
Why: Habitual and Blank denim, pretty dresses from Walter and Harvey Faircloth, and more.
When: Now.
Where: Online at swirl.com.
