Queen for a Day

Magical transformations occur everywhere in the spring. Dry grass turns green, bare twigs sprout pink blossoms, and needles turn into bees.

Actually, the latter may happen only on Newbury Street — as what was once Eye of the Needle has now bloomed into a fuller version of its former self. Queen Bee, a shop packed with fun, flirty fashions, feels like scoring the chance to raid your hippest friend’s closet. (If, that is, it were packed with designs from Shoshanna, Diane von Furstenberg, and Rebecca Taylor.)

Grab a pair of Hanky Panky’s low rise panties in a box or the latest in minimalist-prepsterism: a gigantic Hervé Chapelier bag. Go wild with Jack Rogers sandals. Do it up with Milly and CK Bradley. And Queen Bee’s stock is constantly changing — just like everything else in spring.

Consider yourself buzzed.

Queen Bee, 85 Newbury Street, between Clarendon and Berkeley Streets, Back Bay (617-859-7999).
