You already know the adage about an apple a day. Now the humble fruit is destined to make regular appearances at nightfall thanks to the reissue of Nikki McClure’s first book.
Bound with a red ribbon, the tome made its way into just a handful of bookstores sixteen years ago. Now a hardback edition printed on recycled paper is available for a new crop of seedlings. Follow a young girl and an apple through paper-cut illustrations of the seasons; one word per page allows kiddos to fill in the blanks with their own narrative.
Making for a bedtime story that’s good to the core.
Available at abramsbooks.com, $13.
